Hamilton College finished first in the varsity eight against Tufts University and Tulane University on the Malden River in Boston, Mass., on April 1.

Weather conditions were sunny with temperatures in the 40s and negligible wind. All races were 2,000 meters in length.

Hamilton's varsity eight crossed the line in 6 minutes, 56 seconds against Tufts. The Jumbos finished 20 seconds behind in 7:16. Against Tulane, the Continentals covered the course in 7:05, and finished 16 seconds ahead of the Green Wave.

Kelsey Burke '13 was coxswain, Antonia Villa '12 was stroke and Karly Moore '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Holly Bailey '12, Dominique Paiement '12, Becca Straw '14, Helen Higgins '13, Allie Hoeltzel '14 and Leah Sorenson '14.

Hamilton's second varsity eight finished first against Tufts in 7:02. The Jumbos came in at 7:47. Sophie Breene '12 was coxswain, Keara Fenzel '14 was stroke and Virginia Slattery '12 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Ally Kontra '15, Erin Gerrity '15, Annie Lindahl '15, Margaret Hylas '15, Caroline Walton '15 and Rachel Johnson '13.

The Continentals' novice eight entry finished first against Wentworth Institute of Technology in 8:42. Against Tufts, Hamilton covered the course in 7:30, and finished seven seconds behind the Jumbos. Lily Siff '15 was coxswain, Emma Zanazzi '15 was stroke and Meredith Garner '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order were as follows: Jess Pedersen '15, Hideko Nara '15, Hannah Zucker '15, Grace Bowers '15, Margaret Smith '15 and Rachel Landman '15.

Hamilton hosts Union College for the Gilman Plate & Cup on Saturday, April 7, on the Erie Canal in Rome, N.Y.
