Learning With the Best

Tatenda Chakoma ’18 is exploring a possible future in neuroscience as he interns at UCLA Medical School, Department of Neurology this summer. This internship is a summer program run by Hamilton alumnus Dr. Bruce Dobkin ’69. Each year he selects one Hamilton neuroscience student to do biomedical training and research at UCLA Neurology. Chakoma’s internship is supported by the Sandra Solomon Internship Fund, managed by the Career Center.  More ...

Henry Kang ’17 Researches Cells to Fight Cancer

Ever since he was a child, Henry Kang ’17 knew that he wanted to go into the medical field. This summer he got his first significant research experience through an internship with the Biomedical and Physical Sciences department at Michigan State University. With financial support from the Class of 1964 Internship Support Fund, Kang joined a team of researchers analyzing cells in the human immune system that can help to fight cancer.  More ...

Hamilton Students Intern at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital

Three Hamilton students, Hannah Ferris ’16, Kate Getman ’16 and Milinda Ajawara ’16 this summer participated in internships at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, N.Y. Burke Hospital, celebrating its centennial this year, is an acute rehabilitation hospital that has maintained a long-standing relationship with Hamilton College, offering internships yearly to qualified applicants.  More ...

Five Hamilton students who plan careers in medicine are gaining valuable clinical experience working directly with patients at the Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, N.Y. Julia Gelissen ’14, Allison Hall ’14, Allison Reeder ’14, Alice Grant ’14 and Jennifer Kim ’14 have been working as nurses’ assistants at the hospital since the end of May.  More ...

Five Hamilton Students Experience Life as Medical Residents
Five Hamilton students were recently given the opportunity to experience a week in the life of a medical resident at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, New York. Sam Cho ’10, Thomas Coppola ’10, James Langan ’10, Sven Oman ’10 and Kendra Wulczyn ’10 took part in the Health Experience Learning Program (HELP) from January 11 to 15. The five day internship consisted of shadowing a medical student and various first, second, and third year residents of St. Elizabeth’s Family Practice Residency Program. More ...

This summer, 10 pre-med students from Hamilton are gaining valuable clinical experience working directly with patients at the Burke Rehabilitation Center, in White Plains, N.Y. The students, Amy Rumack '09, Caroline Briggs '10, Mimi Briggs '10, Andrea DeSimone '10, Ben Saccamano '10, Nedzada Smajic '10, Valerie Valant '10, Elizabeth Wahl '10, Ben Dropkin '11, and Kristen Randolph '11, have been working as nurses' assistants at the hospital since the end of May.
