Upcoming Fall 2027 Tuition Policy for Off-Campus Study
While studying off-campus, students continue to have access to the academic support systems available at Hamilton. Hamilton faculty, staff, and institutional resources remain available to support students academically, even while they are away. Furthermore, provided that students follow the credit transfer process and receive approval, all off-campus study liberal arts course credits are recorded on the Hamilton College transcript.
Starting in the fall semester of 2027, students participating in off-campus study programs, whether for a semester or an academic year, are considered fully enrolled at Hamilton. Students will be billed the current Hamilton College tuition amount and specific housing, meals, and/or incidental costs charged by the off-campus study program. If the tuition amount is greater then the current Hamilton College tuition amount, the additional difference will be billed to the student account.
Students eligible for financial aid can have their financial aid “follow” them when they participate in Hamilton programs (New York City, Washington D. C., France and Spain) and other approved off-campus study programs; the amount of need-based financial assistance you receive will be adjusted to the program costs. Your total family contribution will remain the same unless the total cost of attendance of the off-campus study program is more than the Hamilton cost of attendance. If this is the case, your total family contribution will increase by the difference. Please visit the Financial Aid Off-Campus Study webpage for more information.
The College’s approved off-campus study programs undergo rigorous evaluation by faculty members and Hamilton’s professional staff. Programs are periodically reviewed on-site, with additions and removals based on faculty recommendations and student program evaluations.
