Wireless Network Upgraded

Over the summer, the wireless network was upgraded resulting in two notable changes:

  • When connecting to Hamilton's wireless network via your laptop or mobile device, the security or security type should be set to: WPA2 Enterprise. If an encryption type option is available, AES should be chosen (most clients will choose this automatically and don't present a configurable option). This change  may require a very small number of returning students to update their configuration.
  • We enabled a feature called Client Exclusion, which helps protect the wireless network against a variety of common attacks and misbehaving wireless clients. However, misconfigured clients or entering the wrong username/password too many times can also trigger this policy without necessarily doing anything malicious. When the policy is triggered, it will prevent the client from being able to connect to the wireless network for a period of five minutes.
