Assignment Description

Students learned the technical strategies that historians use to visualize urban life by analyzing maps, manipulating census data, and drawing on other visual, textual, and material culture. They applied these strategies to create online exhibits using story maps that explore the life of individual city blocks in Chicago during the early 20th century.
