The Robert P. Bagg, Sr. '12 Scholarship

The Robert P. Bagg, Sr. ’12 Scholarship was established in 2001 by Dr. Richard C. Bagg, Class of 1944, in memory of his father, Robert P. Bagg, Sr., Class of 1912, who served as a Trustee of the College. The scholarship is awarded with preference given to students who display leadership, creativity and determination in the classroom and in extracurricular activities.


Robert P. Bagg, Sr., Class of 1912, was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts. He worked for many years as an advertising executive with Batten, Barton, Durstine & Osborne in New York City. At Hamilton, he was a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity. He also served as a Trustee of the College from 1949-50. He died in 1975 at age 84.

Richard C. Bagg, Class of 1944, was born in White Plains, New York. He entered Hamilton in 1940, and, like his father, was a member of the Sigma Phi fraternity. He also played on the varsity football and hockey teams, and was a member of the choir. A year after graduating from Hamilton, he entered the New York Medical School, receiving his M.D. degree in 1947. He was a doctor in the Navy during World War II and was called to active duty during the Korean War. Dr. Bagg practiced medicine in Falmouth, Massachusetts, for more than forty years. He died in 2003 at the age of 80.
