The Harry and Emma Baldwin Scholarship

The Harry and Emma Baldwin Scholarship was established in 1976 by Donald Baldwin, Class of 1951, in honor of his parents.


Donald Baldwin, son of Harry and Emma Baldwin, was born in West Orange, New Jersey. He entered Hamilton in 1947, majored in economics and psychology, was a member of the Theta Delta Chi fraternity and played hockey and football. After graduating in 1951, Donald joined the U.S. Army, serving two years in the Counter Intelligence Corp. After his military service, he earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. In 1956, he was hired as assistant to the treasurer of Dewey and Almy Chemical Co., and two years later was elected vice president of the John D. Williams Export Corp. In 1965, he became president of Ernest Holmes Export Corp. He retired in 1984 and has since been an active tennis player and an avid outdoorsman.
