The Charles T. Beeching, Jr. Scholarship

The Charles T. Beeching, Jr. Scholarship was established in 1999 by the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck and King, L.L.P., to honor the memory of Charles T. Beeching, Jr., Class of 1952, who had a distinguished career with that firm from 1962 until 1998. The scholarship is awarded to students demonstrating financial need, with preference given to students from Central New York.

Charles T. Beeching, Jr. was born in Herkimer, New York. He entered Hamilton in 1948, majored in political science and economics, and was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity and the hockey team. After graduating in 1952, Charles went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School. He then served in the U.S. Navy as Petty Officer until 1957. That year he married Suzanne Bronnet and began his long career as a corporate lawyer. Charles held a private pilot’s license, and enjoyed flying for business and for pleasure. He passed away in Syracuse, New York, in 1998 at the age of 68.
