The Robert E. Cook Scholarship Fund

The Robert E. Cook Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Camberly G. Cook, Class of 1991, and her husband Duncan S. Routh, Class of 1990, in honor of Ms. Cook’s father. This scholarship provides support to students demonstrating financial need. Preference is given to first-generation college students.

Robert E. Cook grew up in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He worked as a welder until his father, a postal worker, urged him to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania (as a first-generation student). Robert had a transformative experience at IUP where he majored in mathematics and learned how to foster his potential. After graduation, Robert served a tour in the Vietnam War and then returned home to work in the computer industry.

He formed his own company, VM Software, which became a multimillion dollar international corporation. In 2010, Robert published a national security, special operations thriller novel entitled Cooch. Robert and his wife, Paula, now own and manage the Dancing Hares Winery. Their daughter, Cammie, Hamilton Class of 1991, was a math major who went on to earn a second bachelor's degree from the Kansas City Art Institute.  Her husband, Duncan Routh, Class of 1990, graduated with a major in public policy and earned an MBA from Cornell University.
