The Lea Haber '87 and Thomas A. Kuck '88 Scholarship

The Lea Haber ’87 and Thomas A. Kuck ’88 Scholarship was established in 2012 by Lea Haber Kuck, Class of 1987, and her husband Thomas A. Kuck, Class of 1988.

Raised just outside of Rochester in Lockport, New York, Lea Haber came to Hamilton as a member of the Class of 1987. She majored in government, graduating magna cum laude, served as editor-in-chief of The Spectator and played the piano and clarinet. During her time on the Hill, she met Tom Kuck, Class of 1988, a student from Riverside, Connecticut. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a major in English literature, having been a member of Delta Phi fraternity and having participated in the sailing club and ultimate Frisbee. They married in the Hamilton Chapel in 1990.

Lea earned her J.D. from New York University and spent two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Steven D. Pepe in the U.S. District Court in Michigan. Subsequently, she joined Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, becoming the firm’s first Global Attorney Development Partner. She both writes and speaks on international arbitration and cross-border litigation topics. In 2010, she received the Burton Award for Legal Achievement, recognizing excellence in legal scholarship. Lea has served Hamilton as an Admission and Career Center volunteer and as a member of her Reunion Planning and Gift committees. In 2011, she was elected as an Alumni Trustee.

Following his graduation from Hamilton, Tom went on to earn his Master’s degree in English from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. In 1995, he joined the staff at the Ramaz School, a co-educational Orthodox Yeshiva day school, as an English teacher. He has served Hamilton as an Admission volunteer and as a member of his Reunion Planning and Gift committees. Tom’s father, John, was a member of the Class of 1954 and his grandfather, Julius, graduated in 1928.
