The Watters Family Scholarship

The Watters Family Scholarship was established by Jeffrey M. Watters, Class of 1988, and his wife Suzanne Watters. It is awarded to students demonstrating financial need with preference given to students majoring or minoring in environmental studies.

This scholarship was established by Jeffrey M. Watters, Class of 1988, and his wife Suzanne Watters.  This fund was created to support students with financial need who are committed to making a difference in the global fight against climate change and are majoring or minoring in environmental studies.

Following in his father’s footsteps, John L. Watters, Class of 1962, for whom the John Lovell Watters Prize is named, Jeff graduated from Hamilton with a degree in Government.  While a student at Hamilton, Jeff played varsity soccer and baseball, and he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity.  After graduating, Jeff went to work for Kraft Foods, where he met his wife, Suzanne, on their first day of work.  Jeff worked for the Clorox Company and Heinz before taking a role with Del Monte. In 2009, Jeff became the Executive VP of Ainsworth Pet Corporation.  As President and CEO, he had oversight of the Ainsworth portfolio, including its flagship brand, Rachael Ray Nutrish.  Jeff retired from Ainsworth in 2018.

Jeff and Suzanne’s philanthropic priorities include supporting education, sustainability initiatives, and the arts. Jeff sits on a number of professional boards and is a longtime director on the board of the Quaker Valley School District. Suzanne is an artist, a community organizer, and a co-founder of Sustainable Sewickley, which promotes sustainability efforts in the Pittsburgh community.
