The Peter B. Daymont, Jr. Scholarship

The Peter B. Daymont, Jr. Scholarship was established in 1993 by the Daymont family.

Peter Daymont, Class of 1926 (1905-1999) was born in nearby New York Mills. Peter was very active on at Hamilton, participating in the Emerson Literary Society (ELS), the Glee Club, and the varsity track team. He quickly began to make a name for himself on the Hill for his academic success, winning awards including the Kellogg Essay Prize. He also served as the chapel bell ringer and assisted Professor Lewis in speech instruction. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated as Valedictorian of his class.

His love for learning and education led him to a career in teaching, starting in local high schools instructing Latin and Physics. A familiar figure on the Hill, Peter served in many volunteer capacities. He earned the Bell Ringer Award in 1982, and, in 1992, on the occasion of his 90th birthday, the Peter B. Daymont Cup was established to recognize the class with the contribution of the largest unrestricted annual fund gift.
