The Frederic L. Bloch Scholarship
The Frederic L. Bloch Scholarship was established by Frederic L. Bloch, Class of 1974, in connection with his 50th college reunion in 2024.
A native of Eastchester, N.Y., Frederic L. Bloch arrived at Hamilton in 1970 and became active immediately by leading the “Ottinger for Senate” effort on the Hill, enlisting volunteers to canvas for this U.S. Senate candidate. Fred was a Government major who participated in the Hamilton Program in Washington in 1972, returning to the Hill in the spring of 1973, and was elected editor-in-chief of The Spectator.
Fred went on to a professional journalism career reporting for the Buffalo Courier-Express and the Middletown Times Herald-Record before enrolling at Yale University’s School of Management, earning an MBA in 1980. This led to a 32-year Wall Street career with 22 of those years at Bernstein Private Wealth Management where he was a shareholder and senior managing director. Most recently, Fred has served on the executive team at ADL (Anti-Defamation League) where he has been chief growth officer and a senior advisor.
Please note: The named scholarships profiled on these pages support the College’s generous need-based financial aid commitment. These donor-funded scholarships help ensure the Hamilton promise of keeping education affordable through meeting a student’s full demonstrated financial need.
