The Bill Weber Memorial Scholarship

The Bill Weber Memorial Scholarship, established in 2011, is awarded with preference given to students from Oneida, Madison, Southern Herkimer, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, Ontario, or Yates Counties, with first consideration given to students from Rome or Utica, New York.

William M. Weber, Jr., an Oneida County assistant district attorney, was born in Oneida, New York. He graduated from Rome Catholic High School and enrolled at Hamilton in 1976. As a student on the Hill, Bill played intramural sports and tutored HEOP students. He graduated with an A.B. in psychology in 1980 and earned his J.D. from Albany Law School in 1984. Bill and Michelle Barlow married in 1988 and had two children. He joined the Oneida County prosecutor’s office in 1984. A colleague of Bill’s noted his capacity to feel great sympathy for crime victims and reflected that those individuals “knew he’d help them find justice.” Bill died in 2000 after a long battle with cancer.
