The Hasbrouck Bailey Miller '44 Scholarship

The Hasbrouck Bailey Miller '44 Scholarship was established in 2000 by Elizabeth W. Miller in memory of her husband, Hasbrouck Bailey Miller, Class of 1944.

Hasbrouck “Hob” Bailey Miller was born to a Presbyterian minister and a schoolteacher in Gloversville, New York. As a student at Hamilton, he was an active member of the Emerson Literary Society. He joined the armed forces in 1942, working with French Resistance forces and helping to re-open the Burma Road. He was discharged as a Sergeant in 1946 and, upon his return, received an A.B. from the College. Following graduation, he began a 38-year career with American Express in Paris. Hob rose through the corporate ranks of American Express, retiring in 1983 as executive vice president and corporate secretary. He died in 1997.
