The Wellin Museum of Art offers several ways that educators and administrators can gain a deeper understanding of how to incorporate art into your school. No matter what the discipline, we have tools to build visual literacy in your classroom, and we host in-depth, educator-focused talks about our collections and exhibitions.
An Evening of Art for Educators
The Wellin Museum of Art invites you to a reception featuring special tours of the museum and exhibitions, teacher resource kits, and an opportunity to meet museum staff and share ideas. Open to all administrators, teachers, and school personnel.
Art Talk for Educators
The Wellin Museum hosts specialized, educator-focused talks on rotating exhibitions and our permanent collection. These talks give an in-depth background on artists, themes, and interdisciplinary viewpoints that correspond with the educational materials that we provide.
Visual Thinking Strategies
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) uses three questions to guide participants through a creative, thought-provoking discussion that builds visual and verbal literacy skills. The Wellin Museum will train your staff in the VTS method, which perfectly aligns with Common Core goals.
Faculty Meeting Presentations
The Wellin is available to present our offerings to your faculty and staff through in-service day presentations and staff meetings. This is a great forum to hear teachers’ ideas and brainstorm about how the Wellin Museum can be of service to your school.
