Future Forward: Workday Updates

Twice a year—typically in March and September—Workday rolls out updates to improve functionality and enhance the user experience. Many updates occur behind the scenes to ensure a seamless experience, while others are visible on desktop, mobile, or both. These maintenance windows may be slightly longer to support the implementation of new tools and features.

Workday’s second major update of the year is scheduled to roll out on September 19, 2026. Starting in early August, our project team will begin reviewing the new features and enhancements to prepare resources and ensure a smooth transition for the campus community. 

Workday requires scheduled maintenance to keep our systems running securely and efficiently. During these windows, the system is unavailable for all users.

Weekly Service Updates: Most Friday nights/Saturday mornings, Workday performs brief background updates. These typically result in minimal downtime and no visible changes to the system.

Monthly & Quarterly Maintenance: Once a month or quarter, a longer maintenance window is required for infrastructure improvements. These are always scheduled during low-traffic hours (typically starting at 2 a.m.) to minimize disruption.
