Founded in 1957, Hamilton College Junior Year in France (HCJYF) offers an exciting academic and cultural program in France that provides orientation, individual advising, both small in-house courses and a large variety of courses in the Paris university system, comfortable homestays and transfer of credits.About the ProgramA rich, well-planned academic and cultural experience abroad is an essential aspect of a liberal arts education. As European and global issues take on increasing significance, a deeper knowledge of foreign languages and cultures is now more important than ever for the well-rounded student. The Hamilton program in Paris attracts students of all academic disciplines considering careers in government and non-profit agencies, international business, foreign service, teaching, medicine, the arts and law. Students in the program have majors that represent practically all of the major disciplines. A year's study in France can be an important asset in securing graduate fellowships and assistantships, teaching positions and other employment.Hamilton's academic program gives students the best opportunity to acquire true linguistic proficiency and an in-depth knowledge of the many facets of life in France. The program allows semester students from affiliate schools to apply for a limited number of spots. These students must be majoring in the sciences, computer science or math or, alternatively, planning on pursuing coursework in their major off-campus during one semester of the year they plan to study in France.
