Raye Leith ’78 will exhibit her work at the Georgetown Spring Art Walk in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, May 5.

Jo Pitkin K’78 recently had two of her poems published in the anthology Like Light: 25 Years of Poetry and Prose by Bright Hill Poets & Writers. One of her poems, “Reading Baudelaire in My Backyard” was inspired by her college experiences at Kirkland.

Hamilton College’s place in Olympic history recently was resurrected by none other than Stan Fischler, the highly regarded analyst known as “The Hockey Maven.”

Kenneth Lehman ’78 was recently named a “Lawyer of the Year” by the Best Lawyers in America list for 2017.

Margaret W. and Joseph L. Fisher Art Gallery will be exhibiting four large format drawing installations and eight portrait studies by Raye Leith (Osserman) K’78. The gallery is located in Alexandria, Virginia, at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center.  

BSS News Bites ranked DCT Industrial Trust Inc. President and CEO Philip L. Hawkins ’78, in the top 10 percent for his performance this past year. This New York Stock Exchange performance ranking was for the year that ended on May 2, 2016. During that time period, DCT Industrial Trust Inc. shares were up 27 percent. Hawkins ’78 joined the company in 2006 where he led its initial public offering on the NYSE and the subsequent growth of its operating business and development platform.

Judy Silverstein Gray K’78, has published a book titled "Careers in the US Coast Guard." The Enslow Publishing website offers this description of her latest book: “The United States Coast Guard is often the first line of defense against attacks at sea. They are also the first call if there is a hurricane or a flood.  A career in the Coast Guard promises adventure, and working with diverse groups of people…”

Nassau Community College has named Thomas Dolan ’78 as its interim president to replace acting president Kenneth Saunders. Dolan joins NCC from the Great Neck Public School District, where he served as superintendent.

Jo Pitkin, Kirkland class of 1978, has received recognition for her anthology Lost Orchard: Prose and Poetry from the Kirkland College Community. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards committee has selected Pitkin’s work as a finalist in the 2014 Anthology category. As the editor, Pitkin has selected and curated many poems, short stories, novel excerpts, creative nonfiction essays, and one-act plays by Kirkland College alumnae, faculty, and administration.

On January 31, Hamilton and Kirkland alumni gathered for a guided tour of exhibition "Circus and the City: New York, 1793-2010." This was followed by a poetry reading by Jo Pitkin K'78 from her new book Cradle of the American Circus.
