The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, of which Hamilton College is a member, has received a three-year $1.25 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support an international initiative aimed at strengthening global education.  Other New York Six members are Colgate University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, St. Lawrence University, Skidmore College and Union College.

The Teagle Foundation of New York has awarded a $150,000 grant to the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium (NY6) for the New York Six Blended Learning Project. This pilot project will engage faculty from the six-member campuses in the integration of blended or hybrid learning in new or existing courses. Classes will include face-to-face engagement combined with technology-based elements, such as online tutorials or modules, online journals, blogs, webinars, videos and group chats.

Hamilton will host “Faculty of Color in the Liberal Arts College,” a two-day conference  sponsored by the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, on Thursday and Friday, April 11-12.

Students came back from spring break to some good news concerning sustainability on the Hill. Hamilton was the winner of the three-week NY Negawatt/CCN Competition Challenge among New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium peer schools.  The student body, led by Hamilton Environmental Action Group (HEAG) reduced electricity consumption across all Hamilton residence halls by 5.8%, which equates to 27,909 kilowatt hours or approximately $2,500.

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium, of which Hamilton is a member, has received a $15,000 planning grant from The Teagle Foundation for a project titled “Faculty Work and Student Learning in the 21st Century,” aimed at exploring the changing nature of faculty work at leading liberal arts colleges.

The New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium has received a $600,000, three-year grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support collaborative programs in the areas of library collections, information technology, faculty and student development, and diversity.
