Hamilton donated $250K for the purchase of a new ladder truck.
Clinton Mayor Robert G. (Gill) Goering and members of the Clinton Fire Department will bring the department’s new $1 million ladder truck to the Hamilton College campus on Tuesday, June 8, at 1 p.m. for a small ceremony and presentation to Hamilton President Joan Stewart. The college donated $250,000 toward the purchase of the truck, and the ceremony is being held in recognition of that contribution.

The $1 million truck, ordered from Ferrara Fire Apparatus in Holden, La., replaces a 23-year-old piece of equipment that became outdated and increasingly costly to maintain. The central feature of the new truck will be a 100-foot, mid-mounted ladder.

“Hamilton College and the Town of Kirkland are fortunate to have the protection of highly trained volunteer firefighters,” added Stewart. “Proper equipment is essential to them, and Hamilton is pleased to make this contribution to the fire department and, by extension, to our neighbors in Clinton. It is a gift made with gratitude for the vitally important work done by these dedicated volunteers.”
