Connecticut College players won two singles matches in three sets and that was the difference in a 5-4 New England Small College Athletic Conference victory against visiting Hamilton College at South Tennis Courts on April 25.

Hamilton (1-13 overall, 0-6 NESCAC) began the match with two team points in doubles action. Deb Barany '11 and Amelia Mattern '12 picked up an 8-4 win at second flight, and Caroline Greenberg '11 and Maile Thayer '11 won by the same score at third flight. Ashley Pardoe '09 and Laura Brantley '10 dropped a close 9-8 match at first flight.

Hamilton took a 2-1 lead into singles action and needed to split the six matches to post the Continentals' first NESCAC win. Barany and Greenberg recorded victories at third and fourth flight, respectively. Barany was an easy 6-3, 6-0 winner and Greenberg prevailed 6-2, 6-3.

Conn. College (3-12, 1-7) won the remaining four matches to turn Hamilton away. Brantley (1-6, 6-3, 6-2) and Mattern (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) dropped three-set matches in an exciting finish to a competitive match.
