President Joan Hinde Stewart presided over the annual Convocation ceremony that officially opened Hamilton’s 204th year on Wednesday, Aug. 26. Members of the administration welcomed students and new faculty, and 61 students were awarded academic achievement prizes.

New to this year’s ceremony was a collective signing of the honor code card by the entire class of 2019. Each student received a card that was signed during the ceremony then collected and presented to President Stewart.   The honor code cards were designed and printed by members of the Exploration Adventure trip “Letterpress Printing and Book Arts” led by Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing Andrew Rippeon. The 10 first-year students and two junior class trip leaders chose color and layout, handset the lead type, and printed 550+ copies of the card.
