Ella Gant
Ella Gant, chair and associate professor of art, presented her work to Grrl Action, a program of the Austin-based theatre company, Rude Mechanicals. Rude Mechanicals are perhaps best-known for their off-Broadway run and national tours of Greil Marcus', "Lipstick Traces."

Deeply committed to community outreach, the Rude Mechanicals received an Impact Austin Grant to expand their Grrl Action program from a three-week summer intensive to a year-round program. Grrl Action focuses on 13 to 16-year-olds and uses music, theatre and visual art to help the girls develop their creative expression into a form of artistic presentation. Gant spoke to the grrls about her work and creative practice, addressing uses of media such as video, sound, digital technology, photography, text, performance and installation.
