Christian Goodwillie, director and curator of Special Collections and Archives in Burke Library, recently published “Baseball, Beards, Bands, and the Babes: Michigan’s House of David Religious Community” in Ephemera Journal, the quarterly publication of the Ephemera Society of America.

Goodwillie’s article draws on Hamilton’s Communal Societies collection, showcasing colorful examples of ephemera from the House of David’s vegetarian restaurants, baseball and basketball teams, amusement park, and fruit and preserves industries. The House of David, and Mary’s City of David, are intentional religious communities. Hamilton holds substantial archives from each.
