Men's Basketball (18-8)
The men's basketball team participated in the 2001 ECAC Division III Upstate Championships last week. The Continentals hosted SUNY Fredonia on Tuesday evening in the quarterfinals. Hamilton came into the tournament as the third seed, while Fredonia State was the sixth seed.

The Continentals controlled the game throughout, building a 13-point lead with 6:33 to play. However, the Blue Devils would not give up as they went on an 18-4 run to take a 71-70 lead with five seconds to go. After a time out Hamilton had a chance to win the game with three seconds to play. Unfortunately for the Continentals they were unable to get a shot off as time ran out.

Men's Hockey (11-13-1)
The men's hockey team was in action Friday evening in the semifinals of the 2001 NESCAC Tournament. The Continentals, the sixth seed, played top-seeded Middlebury College.

After Middlebury took a 1-0 lead in the first period Hamilton tied the game when Scott Gordon  (Keene, Ontario) scored on a deflection of a pass from Sean Smith (Ottawa, Ontario). At the 17:51 mark of the second period Hamilton took a 2-1 lead when Vic Cizmarik (Bratislava, Slovakia) scored on a slick pass from Mike Johnston (Sydney, Nova Scotia). Hamilton held the
lead until the 7:51 mark of the third period when Middlebury scored on a 5-on-3 power play. With just over two minutes remaining in regulation Middlebury struck again for what would prove to be the game-winner. The Panthers added an empty net goal, making it a 4-2 final.
Sophomore defenseman Steve Aubuchon (Gardner, MA) was a second-team All-NESCAC selection. With a goal and an assist against Middlebury, Vic Cizmarik became 23rd player in the 83-year history of Hamilton hockey to score 100 points in a career.
