The Hamilton College men's basketball team kicked off their 2000-01 season with two victories in California at the West Coast Classic. On Friday the Continentals defeated Claremont-Mudd Scripps College, 70-47. Everybody got a chance to play led by Jim McCarthy's (Brookline, MA) 12 points. He picked up where he left off last year, making four of eight from three-point land. Justin Stolarczyk (Duanesburg, NY) had one of his best games in a Hamilton uniform, scoring eight points and grabbing nine rebounds. Tri-captain Jimmy Driggs (Fairfield, CT) made three, three-pointers, had an assist and five steals.
Saturday the Continentals took on Pomona-Pitzer College. After a shaky first half the team picked it up in the second, winning 61-58. Kris Fudge (Utica, NY) scored a game-high 18 points, 14 of which were in the second half. Joe Finley (Brooklyn, NY) was dominant in the paint, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
