I Sold My Soul On Ebay as a Performance Art Project, John Freyer is Selling Everything He Owns on The Internet

The project started last summer, Freyer said during a recent visit to Syrcause. "I'd lived in New York City over the summer and when I was driving back, I realized that the contents of the trunk of my car were almost the same as what they were when I first arrived in Iowa 1 1/2 years before," he said. "I decided that i didn't need all that stuff to survive."... "The overall idea is that increasingly we are defined by the objects that we own," he said, referring to the information gathered by credit card companies and Web sites when people make purchases. "I wanted to see what would happen to me when I no longer have the objects that define me."... "If I no longer own the things that supposedly define the type of consumer that I am, will I still consume the same goods and services? Or should the telemarketers start to call the people who have bought my life?"
