Israeli activist Haya Shalom will
present a talk on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 4:15 p.m. in the Bristol Campus
Center's Dwight Lounge.
Shalom is the founder of KLAF (a Hebrew acronym that translates Community of Lesbian Feminists in Jerusalem), the first lesbian/feminist organization in Israel. She is also the co-founder of the Women and Peace Coalition and an organizer of Women in Black. The latter group held weekly silent vigils throughout Israel that were instrumental in shifting the political climate to encourage the Israeli/Palestinian peace accord.
Shalom will speak on the current state of Israeli politics, with special attention to the implications for women and lesbians.
