John Rice '78 was featured in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article about GE's Power Systems division, whose 2001 sales exceeded Atlanta-based Coca-Cola.

"The division produces more revenue than GEs's television network (NBC), or its applicance, lights bulbs and jet engines...The power plant turbines that GE Power Systems makes and manages for customers generate more than 80 percent of Georgia's electricity. Yet Rice and his division have remained in relative obscurity, partly because both arrived on the Atlanta scene fairly recently...Amid a slowdown in power plant projects, Rice said he's far more focused on minding the store than making a splash in Atlanta's corporate pond. 'I don't really equate or compare the size of my business with what I see other people doing,' said Rice."
