Associate Professor of Theatre Craig Latrell will present "Headhunter in Spandex: Cultural Performance in East Malaysia" on Friday, Jan. 26 at 4:10 p.m. in the Red Pit, K-J, to launch the spring semeste's Faculty Lecture Series. This talk examines the relationship between tourism and performance in one East Malaysian "cultural village." Such villages are sites for showcasing cultural forms that seem authentic while entertaining and imparting images and narratives in ways that are easily recalled. How does the tourist audience shape the performance of heritage activities and how does performance shape cultural perceptions? Sponsored by the Dean of Faculty Office.
