Box score

Hamilton (10-13 overall) scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth, pushing across an unearned run, then held off a Wildcat threat in the seventh.

Olivia Gozdz ’16 started the winning rally, reaching on an infield error. She moved to second on a single by Ellie Kiernan ’15. After a wild pitch moved both runners up, Gozdz came home on an infield grounder by Daphne Assimakopoulos ’17.

Hamilton’s Kelly Leonard ’15 finished off her third career shutout despite allowing a leadoff single to Danielle Witchley ’17 in the top of the seventh. The Continentals turned a double play thanks to an over-the-shoulder catch that Kiernan made racing into left-center field from her shortstop position. Leonard (8-6) ended the game with her 11th strikeout.

Leonard’s 11 strikeouts were a season-best total and marked her fifth career double-digit performance. She allowed just three hits and a walk, throwing 77 of her 107 pitches for strikes.

Leonard allowed just two runners as far as second base and picked up the 30th win of her career. She and Assimakopoulos both had two of Hamilton’s seven hits.

Starter Fallon Reinold ’16 and reliever Bridget Ashmore ‘15 combined to allow seven hits and no walks over six innings for the Wildcats (2-10).

Hamilton plays a doubleheader against Bates College on Saturday, April 18, at Tufts University. The Continentals’ doubleheader against visiting Morrisville State College, scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, has been postponed and a make-up date has not been determined.

The Wildcats play a conference doubleheader at Morrisville State on Tuesday.
