Hamilton College’s Joe Jensen '15 took first place in both the 200- and 400-meter dash finals and earned men’s rookie of the meet honors at the 2013 New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Indoor Championships at Ithaca College’s Glazer Arena on Feb. 23.

Results

The Continentals finished in sixth place with 69 team points. Ithaca won the team title with 139 points and Rensselaer finished a close second with 134.5 points. Nationally ranked No. 15 Rochester Institute of Technology grabbed third place with 126 points. The top three finishers in each individual event earn NYSCTC all-conference honors.

Jensen nearly set school records in both the 200 and 400. He posted an Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III indoor championships qualifying time of 22.50 seconds in the 200, which was just .05 seconds off the school record. Jensen followed up that performance with a facility-record time of 49.69 seconds in the 400, which was only one-tenth of a second off the school record.

Sam Reider '14 broke a 500-meter dash school record that had stood for nearly 13 years. Reider's time of 1:06.26 was good for second place and topped the old record of 1:06.70 set by Roy Sabo '00 on March 4, 2000.

Mbuotidem Isaac '15 sprinted to sixth place in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.22 seconds. In the distance events, Hashem Zikry '13 took fifth place in the 3,000-meter run in 8:54.73, and Andrew Mandelbaum '16 ended up sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.11.

Will Tifft '14 earned fifth place in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 14.82 meters (48 feet, 7.5 inches). Leonard Kilekwang '16 finished eighth with a mark of 12.89 meters (42 feet, 3.5 inches) in the triple jump.

Jake London '14 finished in sixth place in the heptathlon with 4,289 points. London was sixth in the 1,000-meter run (2:52.54), ninth in the pole vault with a height of 3.25 meters (10 feet, 8 inches) and 10th in the 60 meters (9.31 seconds) on Saturday.

Hamilton posted a season-best time of 3:28.70 and finished sixth in the 4x400-meter relay. Jensen, Reider and Mandelbaum teamed up with Jimmy Alexis '13 in the event. The Continentals also took seventh place in the 4x800-meter relay as they crossed the finish line in 8:18.60. James Bryan '16, Brooks Rozelle '16, Evan Abelson '16 and Robert Clayton '15 were the relay members.

A number of Hamilton student-athletes will participate in the 2013 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships, which will be held at New York City's New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2.
