Hamilton College's Reid Swartz '15 broke the school record in the 50-yard backstroke on the first day of the 2013 NESCAC Championship at the Wesleyan University Natatorium on Feb. 22.

RESULTS

Swartz finished third in the championship final of the 50 back. His time of 23.56 seconds in the preliminary heats was the fastest in the morning. Todd Johnson '08 held the old record of 23.90 seconds, which he set five years ago.

John McBratney '16 took fifth place in the consolation final of the 500 freestyle (13th overall). McBratney's time of 4:40.61 in prelims put him in sixth place on the team's top times list.

Michael Weinzierl '15 ended up seventh in the consolation final of the 200 individual medley (15th overall). Weinzierl's time of 1:58.89 in prelims landed him in 10th place on the program's top times list.

Ian Nichols '13 was sixth in the consolation final of the 50 breaststroke (14th overall) with a time of 27.35 seconds. Alex Jones '16 came in fifth place in the preconsolation final of the 50 breast (21st overall). Jones recorded a time of 27.73 seconds in prelims.

Taylor Hogenkamp '13 finished third in the preconsolation final of the 500 free (19th overall) with a time of 4:45.96. Conor Collins '14 took sixth place in the preconsolation final (22nd overall) in 4:48.60.

In diving, Julian Ziaggi '16 captured seventh place in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 400.50 points. Hamilton is in eighth place with 228 team points. Amherst College leads the 11-team field with 686 points.

The preliminary heats start at 10 a.m. on Day 2 of the NESCAC championship on Saturday, Feb. 23. Finals are scheduled to begin at 5:50 p.m.
