The Hamilton College Continentals opened their spring trip by winning two of three matches in Florida on March 18 and 19.

The Continentals (5-3 overall) split a pair of matches on Tuesday, defeating Bethel University 6-3 and losing 6-3 to Oglethorpe University, then topping Knox College 8-1 on Wednesday morning.

Matthew Billet ’15 won all three of his singles matches in straight sets, winning once at the third, fourth and fifth spots. Billet teamed with Ian Antonoff ’16 to win twice at first flight doubles. Antonoff contributed fourth flight singles victories against Bethel and Knox, giving him a team-best seven singles wins.

Jonathan Cohen ’17 was a singles winner in both Hamilton victories and raised his season record to 6-4. Cohen and Jack Vissicchio ’17 remained unbeaten in dual matches with a win at third flight doubles against Oglethorpe.

Max McKee-Proctor ’17 had a hand in three wins. McKee-Proctor blanked his Knox opponent 6-0, 6-0 in fifth flight singles and ran his winning streak to five and posted a pair of doubles wins with partner Austin Lokre ’16. Ben Swett ’14 was a straight-set winner at second flight singles in Hamilton’s win over Bethel and paired with Devin White ’17 to win at second flight doubles in the Knox victory. Burke Paxton ’17 rounded out the winners, cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 decision at sixth flight singles as the Continentals topped Knox.

Hamilton closes its spring trip on Thursday, March 20, with a pair of matches. The Continentals play Division II opponent Saint Michael’s College at 10 a.m. and face Otterbein University at 3 p.m.
