Professor of Psychology Penny Yee has been appointed Associate Dean of Faculty, starting July 1.

Dean of Faculty Patrick Reynolds announced that Professor of Psychology Penny Yee has accepted the position of Associate Dean of Faculty, with particular responsibilities for curricular matters, for a three-year term starting July 1.

Yee is currently chair of the Committee on Academic Policy and has served on Academic Standing, Library, Quantitative and Symbolic Reasoning, and Student Affairs committees, as well as the Harassment Grievance, Institutional Review, Judicial, and Scientific Misconduct Review boards. 

She earned her Ph.D. in human experimental psychology from the University of Oregon.  Yee conducts research in the areas of cognition and individual differences, covering a wide range of topics from basic attentional and language processes to personality correlates of performance. Of particular interest is how people manage distractions in handling daily activities.

She has published articles in Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, Cognitive Psychology, Memory and Cognition, Intelligence, and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

Yee is a frequent advisor of summer research students, has organized community outreach particularly around engagement of girls in science, and participated in a number of diversity-related initiatives at the college since joining the faculty in 1991.
