Plate Presents Paper at Religion and Media Conference

Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies S. Brent Plate presented a paper at the 7th International Conference on Media, Religion, and Culture hosted by Ryerson University in Toronto.
The conference is held at a new international location every two years, and is attended by participants from across the world. Topics this year included reporting on religion in the news, masculinity in film, representations of Islam in film and television, among others. Plate's paper, "The Skin of Religion: Toward an Aesthetic Theory of the Sacred" was part of a session on "religion and the senses," and looked at the function of the human senses in religious life and practice.
