An essay by Professor of Literature Vincent Odamtten appears in Illuminations on Chinua Achebe: The Art of Resistance, published by Africa World Press, Inc. This latest critical volume on Achebe celebrates the late Nigerian author as an iconic literature and orature genius.

The essays included in the book reflect on ways Achebe’s writing and teachings, as well as his legacy in general, have impacted Africa and the world at large. Odamtten’s essay is titled “Arrow of God: illuminations of impediments and hopes – to bring the promised immunity.”

According to the publisher’s website, Illuminations on Chinua Achebe “provides fresh perspectives and indeed, innovative theoretical formulations that offer insightful original critical commentaries on Achebe and his works, illuminating him under new light.”

The book was co-edited by Professor Emeritus Micere Githae Mugo and Associate Professor Herbert Ruffin II, both of Syracuse University’s Department of African American Studies.
