Professor of Biology Pat Reynolds has been reappointed as editor-in-chief of the journal Invertebrate Biology for another three-year term. The journal, published by The American Microscopical Society,is one of the oldest biological journals in the U.S., publishing continuously since 1879. Reynolds was named the 20th editor of the journal in 2004, after serving six years as co-editor.

Invertebrate Biology publishes research articles on the biology of invertebrate animals in all of its aspects, not only microscopy of invertebrates but research involving the fields of cell and molecular biology, ecology, physiology, genetics, systematics, behavior, and biogeography. The journal first published under the name Proceedings of the American Society of Microscopists (vols. 1-13; 1878/1879-1892), then as Proceedings of the American Microscopical Society (vols. 14-16; 1892-1994), then for 100 years as Transactions of the American Microscopical Society (vols. 17-113; 1895-1994), and since 1995 (vols. 114-present) as Invertebrate Biology. The 125th volume of the journal is to published in 2006.
