Junior forward Michael Schantz scored 19 points andgrabbed 10 rebounds as he became the 24th Hamilton player to surpass 1,000points in a career in Friday night's victory over Rensselaer, 77-72. Schantzaccomplished the feat in just under 2 1/2 seasons and is on pace to become onlythe second Continental to score 2,000 points and collect 1,000 rebounds.

The Continentals led by 14 at halftime, 39-25, and survived a late second-halfsurge by the Engineers while Schantz and junior center Jon Schmiegel were onthe bench having fouled out of the game. Senior guard Kevin Thorpe shot at a40% clip from beyond the three-point arc as he chipped in 17, while Schmiegeland junior guard Max Stroman added 11 and 10 points respectively. Hamilton wonits third game in a row, improving to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the UCAA.

Rensselaer's Alex Dowlin scored 17 points and teammate Bobby Hurley added 13in the loss as the Engineers fell to 3-8 overall.
