Alison Kiss, executive director of Security on Campus, Inc., will give a lecture, “Understanding Your Rights:  Campus Sexual Assault,” on Monday, April 2, at 4:10 p.m., in the Sadove Student Center Conference Room. Kiss’ presentation is the first in a series of events planned in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Security on Campus (SOC) is the “first and only nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of criminal violence at colleges and universities nationwide through educational, awareness, and policy initiatives.” Since its founding in 1987, SOC has advocated for more stringent campus security measures and lobbied for groundbreaking legislation to reform campus security policy and practice.  Kiss, through SOC, has been instrumental in developing and implementing sexual awareness curricula on campuses across the country, in accordance with the Clery Act training program.

Also presenting at the event will be Hamilton’s Director of Campus Safety Fran Manfredo, and Marla Marquez ’14, J.J. Liebow ’13, Alexandra Nasto ’13 and Brenna Corrigan ’14 on behalf of Hamilton SAVES (Sexual Assault and Violence Education & Support).

April is designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month in the U.S.  The goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is to raise public awareness about sexual violence, including preventative strategies. Hamilton joins campuses throughout the U.S. in facilitating several awareness programs on campus violence.
