Janet Simons

Janet Thomas Simons, co-director of the Digital Humanities Initiative, gave the evening keynote address on May 30 at the Great Lakes Colleges Association's Expanding Collaboration Through the Digital Liberal Arts in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Her talk, “Innovation and Sustainability: Collaboration in the Digital Liberal Arts," focused on the choices in beginning and sustaining humanities based digital research collections at liberal arts institutions.  Drawing upon five years of experiences in the Mellon Funded Digital Humanities Initiative (DHi), which she co-directs with Angel David Nieves, Simons emphasized including undergraduates in digital humanities research and the need for collaboration within and across institutions.
