Galia Slayen ’13, who with and Perry Ryan ’12 provided the impetus for Hamilton’s participation in the National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (NEDAW), will be featured on NBC’s Today Show on Thursday, April 14, airing in Utica on WKTV in the 11 a.m. hour.

The segment on her efforts to generate awareness of eating disorders will include photos of the life-size Barbie doll displayed on campus during NEDAW.

The doll was created by Slayen to demonstrate how its exaggerated measurements contribute to unrealistic body images in society.  The Today Show can be viewed locally on NBC affiliate WKTV.  An essay by Slayen was also featured on Huffington Post titled “The Scary Reality of a Real-Life Barbie Doll” on April 8.
