Kathy Cashman, professor of geology at the University of Oregon, will give a lecture titled “Mt. St. Helens: A Tale of Three Decades” on Tuesday, April 13, at 7 p.m., in the Science Center Kennedy Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Cashman received her bachelor’s degree in geology/biology from Middlebury College and she her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. She is a member of the American Geophysical Union, the Geological Society of America, and IAVCEI (Volcanogenic Sediments Working Group, Explosive Volcanism Working Group).

She has contributed to numerous publications, including the Journal of Volcanology and Geothermal Research, Earth and Planetary Science Letters, and the Journal of Geophysical Research. Cashman is also the 2009-2010 Mineralogical Society of America Distinguished Speaker.
