WINSLOW LECTURE AT HAMILTON

Siegfried Jakel, a leading scholar in
classics, history and German literature will present Greek Mythology: Homer,
Hesiod, and a Glimpse of Tragedy, on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 4:15 p.m. in
Dwight Lounge, Bristol Campus Center, Hamilton College. The lecture is
free and open to the general public.
A professor of classics at the University of Turku, Finland for over 20 years, Jakel has also held several teaching posts in Germany, was a fellow of the British Academy, and was a junior fellow at the U.S. Center of Hellenic Studies. He has authored several books, articles and reviews on classics, ancient philosophy and German literature and is an award-winning, highly sought-after lecturer and public speaker.
The Jakel lecture is funded by the Winslow Lecture Fund, which was established through a bequest from William Copley Winslow, Class of 1862, to support lectures on classical archaeology.
