CLINTON, N.Y. – Holly Erick '04 (Portland, N.Y./Brocton Central) led all scorers with a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Hamilton College to a 66-63 non-conference win against SUNY Oswego in a women's basketball game at Scott Field House on Jan. 13.

Erick was 8-for-11 from the field and 8-for-13 from the free throw line. Jessica Gorman '06 (Conway, Mass./Deerfield Academy) added 16 points and made three of her six three-point attempts for Hamilton (5-2 overall). Missy Nelson '05 (Oxford, N.Y./Oxford Academy) recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Kelly Mraz '07 (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) led Oswego (7-3) with 21 points and four assists before fouling out with eight seconds left. Kristin Sterling '05 (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) added 12 points and Sally Shuster '05 (East Amherst, N.Y./Sacred Heart) chipped in eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Continentals led 33-28 at the half before the Lakers came roaring back to lead 52-44 with 9:32 remaining. Oswego still led 61-55 with 3:25 left when Hamilton scored the next seven points on a Kim Beevers '06 (Adams, N.Y./Jefferson) jumper in the lane, a three by Gorman, and a basket by Erick to reclaim the lead at 62-61 with 1:36 left.

Amanda McLaughlin '05 (Groton, N.Y./Groton) made a lay-up to put the Lakers back in front with 39 seconds remaining, but Erick scored again down low to give the Continentals the lead for good with 23 seconds left. Nelson added two free throws with 8 ticks on the clock for the final score. Oswego could not get a three-point shot off before the buzzer.

Hamilton will open its Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association schedule by traveling to Troy, N.Y., and playing Rensselaer on Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
