Women's swimming & diving falls to Middlebury

Megan Gibbons '12 captured first place in two freestyle events in Hamilton College's dual meet loss to nationally ranked No. 20 Middlebury College at Hamilton's Bristol Pool on Jan. 15.
Gibbons won the 50-yard free in 24.77 seconds, and the 100 free in 53.87 seconds. She was also the anchor for a winning 400 medley relay that finished with a time of 4:03.27. Maggie Rosenbaum '14, Liz Bucceri '11 and Joan Burton '13 were the other members of the relay.
Rosenbaum was first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.03. Diane Paverman '13 claimed the Continentals' other event victory in 3-meter springboard diving with 253.86 points.
Sarah Dempsey '14 ended up third in the 200 butterfly in what had to be the race of the day. Dempsey's time of 2:16.56 was .09 seconds behind the event winner, and just .01 behind the runner-up.
The final score of the meet was 156-87. Hamilton travels to Amherst College for another dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 22.
