As we approach the start of the fall 2020 semester, I want to make you aware of some changes in Burke Library hours and access, and LITS services.

Starting on Monday, August 24, 2020, Burke Library hours will be;

  • Monday - Friday - 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday - 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Sunday - 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • The Stryker All Night Reading Room will not be accessible from midnight to 7:30 a.m. daily for cleaning.

Burke Library will be open to currently enrolled students, faculty and staff only via Hill Card swipe access. Please do not hold the door for others.

You will be required to wear a mask in the library. The only exception is to take sips from a water bottle.

Except for bottled water, food and drink are not permitted. The vending machines will not be filled.

Many tables, chairs, and computers have been removed to encourage physical distancing. Please do not rearrange the furniture. Please practice physical distancing and remain at least six feet away from others. The computers removed from Burke and other labs on campus will be available through a remote connection to allow for continued use of the applications on those machines, from both on and off campus.

The stacks are closed also due to physical distancing guidelines. Students can now request materials using the library catalog. Contact the Circulation Department, askcirc@hamilton.edu, 315-859-4479, for more information.

The Research and Design Studio in Burke Library will be staffed, in person, most library hours by Digital Media Tutors (DMT’s) and Research Tutors (RT’s). Research Librarians will be available Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., via Zoom, chat, and at askus@hamilton.edu

The Help Desk will be staffed Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Saturdays 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon - 10:00 p.m.  Stop by for in person assistance, or contact them at helpdesk@hamilton.edu or 315-859-4181.

The Digital Arts Lab (DAL) in the KTSA building will be closed this semester. However, items such as cameras or video equipment will be available for checkout from the Research & Design Studio in Burke Library instead.

Thank you, and best wishes for a successful semester!
