Professor of Music Michael ("Doc") Woods and Professor of Music Samuel Pellman presented works at the Everson Museum in Syracuse on Sept. 21 for a concert by the Society for New Music.

Professor of Music Samuel Pellman presented his composition of digital music “Selected Galaxies: Peculiar” on March 22 at the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) National Conference at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. The performance included a video created by Ben Salzman ’14 as part of an Emerson Project collaboration with Pellman.

A work by Ben Salzman '14 and Professor of Music Samuel Pellman, Selected Galaxies: Peculiar, was recently presented on a concert at the Understanding Visual Music 2013 conference, hosted by the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero, in Buenos Aires.

Professor of Music Samuel Pellman attended the 2012 International Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology at the National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. His composition “NGC 6357,” with video by Miranda Raimondi ’08, was featured in the opening concert on Nov. 30.

Ben Salzman '14 and Professor of Music Samuel Pellman recently presented a new work, Selected Galaxies: Spirals, at the  Kyma International Sound Symposium, hosted by St. Cloud State University, in Minnesota. 

Ben Salzman ’13 has always been fascinated with science, space exploration and music, but upon entering Hamilton, his chosen academic path gravitated toward the areas of music and art. He has since discovered a unique method of combining art and science in working with Leonard C. Ferguson Professor of Music Sam Pellman to create visual accompaniments for musical compositions.

On the eve of the completion of the Ruth and Elmer Wellin Museum of Art, groundbreaking for the College’s new theatre and studio arts center was celebrated on Friday, July 20. The theatre and studio arts center is part of an arts complex that includes the Wellin Museum of Art, the Molly Root House and a revitalized pond and landscaping.

The Crossroads District Choir on June 2 presented the premiere performance of “It's a Good Day,” an anthem composed by Leonard C. Ferguson Professor of Music Samuel Pellman.  The work was commissioned by the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Hamilton will host the first Mobile Learning Summit on Friday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kirner-Johnson Building.  Presented in partnership with the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education (NYSCATE), the summit will include discussions, presentations and workshop sessions spanning the mobile technologies within the K-20 educational continuum.
