Lisa Cremin ’79, a director of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, received the 2016 Governor’s Award for the arts and humanities for her work in the arts community.

Thomas Mariani ’79, chief of the environmental enforcement section of the U.S. Department of Justice, is a finalist for a homeland security and law enforcement medal. Medals are given as a part of the Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals program, run by a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, Partnership for Public Service, to honor America’s dedicated federal workforce.

Eight Hamilton students have been selected to receive the Class of 1979 Student Travel Award. The award, established by the alumni of Hamilton’s Class of 1979, offers financial assistance to Hamilton students who wish to pursue extensive research projects in different parts of the world.

Hamilton has named its new intercollegiate athletics team center, a 5,100-square-foot addition to Sage Rink, for alumnus and charter trustee Robert V. Delaney ’79 and his wife Pamela Craig. The couple provided the lead funding for the $3.2 million facility that includes four team rooms for fall, winter and spring sports teams; a satellite sports medicine room; laundry room; and an equipment enclosure. The Delaney Team Center was dedicated during Reunion Weekend on Saturday, June 6.

The momentum of the 4th annual Levitt Leadership Institute continued off-campus in Washington, D.C., the week of March 16. Led again by Former Ambassador Prudence Bushnell and Christine Powers, and later joined by Director of Hamilton’s Education Studies Program Susan Mason, the group applied leadership lessons learned in the first week in January, and viewed leadership-in-action in our nation’s capital.

The independent study group "The Possibility of a Critical Pedagogy" attended United Opt Out: Occupy the Department of Education 2.0 in Washington, D.C., from April 5-7.

NYC Program students spent a recent morning with Hamilton alumnus Bob Kinkel ’79 at Spin Recording Studios, a 4,000 square foot, world-class audio recording  studio in Long Island City.  Kinkel is a professional keyboardist and music engineer best known for his role as a co-creator/co-producer/co-composer and touring keyboardist with Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Participants in the first Levitt Leadership Institute cohort headed to Washington, D.C. for the  second phase of the program during spring break. Led by Prudence Bushnell, former U.S. Ambassador to Kenya and Guatemala, the group continued their focus on the study of leadership, a program that was enhanced by daily meetings with Washington leaders. Funding for the entire program was provided by Arthur Levitt Jr.
